[DMS] BenQ DMS 3.1 Release Notes

Release notes for DMS 3.1 and DMS Client v3.1.4.0 (released February 19th, 2024)

New Features:

App block list

Admins can create a block list in the Policies section to prevent users from
running specific apps installed on their devices. They can select from their app
library or the BenQ Store, or specify particular app download URLs from the
Google Play Store.

New device details

  • View the total number of online and offline devices from the DMS
    Dashboard.
  • View the total device runtime from the device list or on the device details
    window.
  • View the Wi-Fi adapter IP and MAC addresses on the device details window.

Enhancements:

Automatic app permissions for EZWrite and InstaShare 2

Previously, users of EDLA BenQ Boards were prompted to grant app
permissions before they could use EZWrite 6 and InstaShare 2. The new
update automatically grants these permissions so users no longer need
to manually configure their app settings. (Please push out new DMS Client or update it on the board from the BenQ App Store)

Group column

The newly added Group column on the device list allows admins to
quickly sort devices according to group and identify ungrouped devices.

Drag and drop to groups

Easily assign devices into groups by dragging them from the device list
to a group folder.

Device reports for selected devices

Generate tailored reports for multiple selected devices.

Additional device search attributes

Refine the device search results by selecting any of the additional
attributes listed in the Search window.

Failed tasks in event logs

Clicking the failed task status bar in the event logs shows the list of
affected devices for more efficient troubleshooting.

Arm architecture support for APKs of the same version

Some admins have devices that run different Arm architectures and
require different APKs for the same app version. They can now upload
same-version APKs for different architectures to the app library. DMS
detects the architecture of each device and automatically installs the
appropriate APK. (Note the [2] under Microsoft 365 below, meaning two separate APKs were uploaded for DMS to choose between.)

Minor string change

“Live TV” is now listed as “External input” in the App Usage report.
