Check that your USB meets minimum requirements.
FAT32, Interface 3.2 (gen1), 400MB/s read
and write speeds.
If you need to format your USB:
Windows (if greater than 32gb).- Download the DiskGenius disk partition tool.
(You can download a portable version). - Insert the USB drive to your laptop, then launch DiskGenius.
- Choose your USB partition, click Format on the tool bar
- Select FAT32 format, then click “ormat, it will be formatted to FAT32
format.
- Insert USB Drive into your Mac
- Open Disk Utility by going to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
- Select the USB drive from the list on the left. Double check you are selecting your USB drive.
- Select Erase at the top.
- Format > Select MS-DOS (FAT) from the drop down and click Erase.
- Click Done when complete.
- Download the DiskGenius disk partition tool.
- Plug your USB drive into the side USB 2.0 port. Preferably next to
the Wi-Fi dongle. - Go to Android Settings, click Storage, select your USB device under
drop down list. - Click three dots icon on the upper right corner, then click Format.
- Click Format another way, make sure you are on Format SD card for
Internal Storage page, then click Format. - A window will pop up asking to Format this USB drive. Click Format, then it will execute the format process.
- After the format process is done, click Move content later. If you're board reboots, let it go through the reboot process until you see the Login screen again (may reboot a couple times) and login.
If your board did not reboot in the previous step, click Done. - Check Storage by exiting Settings, then going back into Storage. You should see your storage has now expanded if everything was successful.
DISCLAIMER: There are apps that can only run on the main drive and will only install themselves there.
If the USB is ever disconnected, the apps installed there cannot be run on the board, however will work again when the USB is reconnected.
